Distant Learning Program

Welcome to the Southern California School of Interpretation, Distant Learning Website. The Southern California School of Interpretation has campuses in Los Angeles California and Las Vegas Nevada. We are the school with the highest pass rate of certified interpreters in the states of California and Nevada.

Our Distant Learning program keeps the same level of instruction that makes us the leading interpreting institution in California and Nevada. We strive for quality of instruction. In order to accomplish it, the Southern California School of Interpretation has created a unique distant learning program, that allows the students to talk to their instructors, be assessed by their instructors by telephone, and take mock examinations online.

To teach the art of interpreting requires close monitoring of the student and access to a wide array of laboratory practices. In keeping with our tradition, our program includes both elements that helped over 800 students achieve certification.

We offer a free introductory course so that the students familiarize themselves with the program, understand the challenges of becoming an interpreter and become aware of our quality of instruction that is enhanced by technology. We encourage all our prospective students to sign up for the free introductory course. This is a three-hour course on court, administrative hearings and medical interpreting.

How does our Distant Learning Program work?

After taking the free introductory course, the student may register for any of the programs available: Court, Medical or Federal Interpreter. Those students already certified by their state and who wish to take continuing education courses approved by their states may register for the chosen activity without taking the free introductory course.

After registering in a program of his or her choice, the student will receive instructions on how to access the lectures, a user’s name and password.

What type of programs do we offer?

We offer programs for Court, Administrative Hearings, Medical, and Federal Interpreters, along with continuing education units for Certified Interpreters.
